Increasing Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure
Evie was at the convention touting their new 300kw chargers
We visited the eMobility show at Sydney’s International Convention Centre in October 2023. It was very clear that as far as industry and Government (Treasury and Transport) is concerned, Electric Vehicles (EV) are the future. What was particularly clear is that multiple levels of government are actively clearing a path for public charging infrastructure roll outs. The networking drinks were sponsored by Chargefox, but they were far from the only EV charging infrastructure provider present.

Power Increases Mean Faster Charge Time
The greatest resistance regarding the switch to electric is typically ‘range anxiety’ and the fear of not being able to find a charger. Coming hot on its heels is concern number two: that it takes too long to charge. The tone of this convention suggested that the next couple of years will do away with both of those concerns. In New South Wales (NSW is Australia’s largest state) Treasury is actively funding the roll out of a charging network by providing charger-companies with grants to do so. They are also running a 10 million dollar fund to assist building owners to retrofit and accommodate EV charging infrastructure.
New 300kw chargers promise to cut charging time dramatically too - and down the line there are 800kw chargers coming. Look at the charging speeds you’ll see using the little calculator we whipped up below.
